Frequently Asked Questions

Vinyl banners are the standard for outdoor signage, fence wraps, and event promotion. This FAQ covers material weights, fixings, and design pitfalls that ruin otherwise good banners

Standard outdoor vinyl is 440gsm to 510gsm, strong enough for most outdoor uses.
Mesh vinyl has tiny holes that let wind pass through, reducing strain on fixings in windy locations. Choose mesh for scaffolding, fence wraps, building hoardings, and any outdoor banner over 3m wide. The mesh is barely visible from a distance.

Most printers include eyelets at all four corners as standard.
Cable ties through eyelets for short-term installs, bungee cords for medium-term, and rope or webbing straps for long-term outdoor fixings. Avoid sharp wire, which cuts into the eyelets over time and tears the banner.

We offer a maximum size of 12ft x 6ft.
Putting too much text. Banners are read from a distance and at a glance, usually 3 to 5 seconds. Stick to a single headline, one supporting line, your logo, and a call to action. Anything more dilutes the impact.
Most banner printers want 25mm of bleed all the way around, plus a 50mm hem allowance if your banner will have folded and stitched edges. Always check the spec from your supplier — under-bleeding is a frequent cause of design issues.

Use mesh vinyl instead of solid PVC for very windy locations, the small perforations let wind pass through. For solid banners, ensure all eyelets are tied tightly, and consider tensioning straps with springs that absorb gust loads.
Yes, but the marker won't come off easily.
12–24 months for standard PVC, up to 3 years with UV lamination. The biggest enemies are constant flapping (wears the fabric and prints) and direct south-facing sunlight (fades the inks). Move banners to slightly sheltered locations if you can.
