Frequently Asked Questions

Roller banner stands are the workhorse display for trade shows, retail, and reception spaces. This FAQ covers material quality differences, transport, setup issues, and what to look for at order

Curling usually means a cheaper film stock was used, or the banner has been stored in damp or hot conditions. Premium roller banners use anti-curl PVC laminated with a backing layer, which keeps them flat for years even in mixed environments.
Economy models use thinner aluminium, lighter graphic film, and basic poles, lasting 6–12 months of regular use. Premium models use thicker bases, anti-curl materials, telescopic poles, and padded carry bags, they pay for themselves within a year if you exhibit often.
Most quality roller banners use a 200–250 micron PVC film with a grey blockout backing, which prevents light shining through and stops the graphic curling. Polyester film alternatives offer more eco-friendly profiles at a similar performance level.

Always upright (vertical) when packed in their case. Laying them flat for long journeys can put pressure on the rolled graphic and create dents. Stand them up in the boot or back seat with the base down.
The base needs to sit flat to keep the banner straight, so very uneven ground will cause leaning. On grass or carpet, the feet usually hold fine; on cobbles or steps, find a piece of flat board to stand the unit on.
If the support pole isn't fully clicked into all its sections, the top will tilt slightly. Make sure each pole segment locks into place with an audible click, and that the top clip engages firmly with the banner before letting go.
Under a minute with practice. Pull the banner up by the top rail, slot the support pole into the base, and clip the top rail onto the pole. Pack-down is just as quick, and the whole unit lives in a carry bag the size of a tennis racket.

View your design at 100% on screen and zoom in on text and logos. If anything looks pixelated at that view, the print will too. As a guide, 100dpi at full size is the minimum for readable roller banner printing.
Leave the bottom 100–150mm clear of important content, because that section sits inside the base cassette and isn't visible when the banner is fully extended. Many designs have logos or contact details cropped because designers ignore this.
A print-ready PDF at 100% scale with 3mm bleed, fonts embedded, and CMYK colour mode. Most printers also accept high-resolution PNG and JPEG files but PDFs avoid font and layout issues during production.

Yes, but place them so the base is against a wall or out of foot traffic, since the stand can tip if knocked. Some models include weighted bases for added stability, which is worth considering for busy public events.
Use a soft cloth with warm soapy water for most marks, never solvents, which dissolve the printed surface. Test a small area first. If marks won't lift, the affected section can usually be reprinted without replacing the whole stand.
