Frequently Asked Questions

NCR pads create instant duplicate or triplicate copies — essential for invoices, receipts, delivery notes, and job sheets in trades and field operations. This FAQ explains NCR options, colours, and sizes.

NCR stands for 'No Carbon Required', a type of duplicate or triplicate paper that creates instant copies when written on, without needing carbon paper between sheets. The reactive coating transfers the impression to layers below.
Invoices, receipts, delivery notes, order forms, job sheets, quote forms, time sheets, and any paperwork that needs immediate hard copies for both the customer and your records. Common in trades, service businesses, and field operations.
NCR works without electricity, signal, or screens, invaluable for trades and field operations where digital systems are impractical. Customers also appreciate getting an immediate physical receipt, especially for cash transactions and on-site work.

Duplicate creates one copy below the original (2 sheets total). Triplicate creates two copies (3 sheets total), useful when you need one for the customer, one for accounts, and one for the operative.
The traditional sheet colour code is white (original/top copy), pink (second/customer copy), and yellow (third copy/office copy). This makes it easy for everyone to know which copy belongs to whom at a glance.
A4 (210mm x 297mm) for full invoices and order forms, A5 (148mm x 210mm) for compact receipts and forms. A4 third (or DL) sizes are sometimes used for quick service forms.
Standard NCR pads come in 50 or 100 sets per pad. So a duplicate pad of 50 sets contains 100 sheets total (50 white + 50 pink). Triplicate pads of 50 sets contain 150 sheets total.

Yes, sequential numbering is a standard option (and often essential for audit and tax purposes). Confirm the starting number when ordering, so subsequent pad reorders continue from where the last one finished.
Yes, modern NCR pads support full colour printing on the top copy. The carbon-reactive layers below typically reproduce in monochrome regardless of the original colour, since the transfer is mechanical not colour-based.
Yes, full logo, address, contact details, and VAT registration can all be pre-printed on each form.

Most NCR pads are padded along the top edge with strong glue, with sheets perforated for easy removal.
Yes, perforations make it easy to tear off individual copies without damaging the rest of the pad. Standard NCR pad production includes perforations across all sheets at the same position, so each copy comes off cleanly.
Standard turnaround is 5–10 working days. The NCR paper itself is a specialist stock, so allow longer than general office printing.
